Ashley and Simon’s elopement to San Francisco’s City Hall was our first time capturing a destination elopement -and we completely fell in love. These two were supposed to get married in Mexico, but covid changed their plans. What was most important to them was getting married. So, they came up with an alternative plan that suited them and everything came together perfectly. Every part of their day was so intentional and beautiful!
Ashley and Simon started their elopement day at the beautiful Proper Hotel. They had a slow morning together in preparation for what the day had in store. They spent the morning spending quality time together in their suite, ordering the full breakfast menu, and sitting in their pajamas while doing face masks together. When we arrived we captured the final moments of them getting ready as well as some detail shots.
Before Ashley put on her dress, Simon went to a different room in the hotel. They then shared their first look and when Simon saw Ashley in her wedding gown it was a very emotional moment. Ashley gifted Simon a locket with a photo of his mom who had passed. She knew that of all people, he would want her there on his wedding day.
After the first look, we took some photos around the beautiful hotel before a limo picked us up and took us to City Hall!
San Francisco City Hall is absolutely stunning! We feel so fortunate to have shot here. It was an incredibly busy day at city hall on 02/02/2022, so there were lots of brides and grooms. We waited for our time slot for their ceremony at the top of the grand staircase. The officiant performed the legal ceremony and they exchanged private vows. After the ceremony, we spent time taking photos and videos around the City Hall – the architecture and lighting were so beautiful.
Ashley and Simon were feeling like they wanted some downtime at this point – we decided to part ways for a couple of hours. They had some time to soak in becoming husband and wife while we went for an ice cream break. The beauty of elopements is that we had time in the day to be flexible and go with the flow!
After a little re-set, we met up at Charmaine’s Rooftop and Bar back at The Proper Hotel. They enjoyed some drinks and cake by the firepit with gorgeous city views as the sunset in the background. We ended the night by heading to one of the bridges to capture them with the city lights!
The entire day was chic and elevated, with the perfect mix of elegance, romance, and adventure. The thoughtfulness behind each detail reflected them perfectly. This was such a special day that we are grateful to have been a part of!
