Hannah and Ryan have been engaged for a couple of years and took their time deciding how and when they wanted to get married. They wanted the start of their marriage to be intentional, and true to them. Both of them have had experience working in the wedding industry and had seen the stress that can sometimes come with weddings- – a big wedding was not it for them. They decided to elope at the beach along the Washington Coast with just their closest friends and family. It was laidback, adventurous, romantic, and a perfect reflection of their love.
We started the day off slow in a rustic cabin that Hannah and Ryan had rented with some of their closest family and friends. They enjoyed a morning of French toast, mimosas, and face-timing with family members while getting ready. Hannah’s sister painted her nails and did her hair and makeup, while Ryan quietly got ready and ironed his suit.
We then took a beautiful drive to make our way to the coast. When we arrived Hannah and Ryan walked hand in hand and hiked together to their selected ceremony and first-look location. Hannah and Ryan had the perfect ceremony spot picked out that they had found on one of their backpacking trips. Getting there involved scaling a steep slope with a rope belay, but once we had reached the spot, we could see why they had picked it. It was so serene and had a beautiful view of the ocean. It was definitely worth the hard work to get there!
Hannah and Ryan took a few moments separately to get dressed and prepare for their first look. It was so sweet to see how grounded Ryan was and present in that moment. His face says it all when he sees Hannah in her wedding dress. They then had their ceremony with their good friend Eddy there to officiate. They exchanged their personal vows with the ocean waves as their witness. It was simple, sweet, and perfectly them.
After hiking back down, we drove to a nearby beach where their friends were waiting excitedly to see them with a fire. Their wedding “reception” consisted of enjoying pizza together and sitting together by the fire. As the sun set over the ocean, we took some portraits on the beach would make for some of our favorite moments of the day. It was so refreshing to see an elopement so down to earth and fit with the couple’s personalities. We will always remember this day and are so grateful to have been a part of it. Congratulations to Hannah and Ryan!
