Christie and Kirk’s fall wedding at The Commons in downtown Calgary was romantic and intimate. This laidback couple loves to cook, spend time outdoors and be active together. When planning their wedding Christie knew she wanted a venue with an industrial vibe and exposed brick. The Ramsay Design Centre was the perfect fit!

Urban Industrial Calgary Wedding

Kirk and Christie started their day getting ready separately with their bridal party. We captured Kirk and his groomsmen in Christie and Kirk’s home, while Christie and her bridesmaids got ready in a nearby Airbnb. The two then met on a nearby pathway for their first look. They chose this specifically chose this spot because this is where they take their morning walks together! I love that they will always have this special memory in a place they visit together daily. 

After their emotional first look, we took a party bus downtown with the wedding party for some portraits! We took the bridal party photos around the Simmons building and Princes Island Park. The fall leaves were at their peak, so the beautiful orange and yellow trees were the perfect backdrop. The location was the ideal mix of nature and urban, something that Christie had hoped to achieve! 

After the bridal party photos were done, we went up to 9th Ave Parkade with just Christie and Kirk. Whenever possible, we always suggest couples carve out some time for just the two of you. Amidst the busy nature of a wedding day, it is always so nice to have time away to really take in the day! With stunning city views as the backdrop, we captured portraits of Christie and Kirk atop the parkade. These rooftop photos ended up being some of our favorite moments from the day! 

Ramsay Design Centre Intimate Wedding

After finishing up the portraits, we all headed to the venue for the ceremony. The space was decorated perfectly with green flowers, candles, and white drapery. After a beautiful ceremony with personal vows, we headed to a cocktail hour. The champagne tower was a huge hit for all of their guests! Then it was party time! Speeches, cake, dancing, and an outfit change for Christie made the night complete! Congratulations to this wonderful couple!
